45-year-old Michelle Yeager her two girls were killed in a collision between the Interstate 55 and 270 intersection in South County Friday morning. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol records, the victims were traveling in the same vehicle, a GMC Yukon, when the incident occurred at 7:35 a.m. at the junction where Interstate 55 traffic meets with northbound Interstate 270.
Michelle Yaeger and an 8-year-old child were pronounced deceased at the collision site. A 10-year-old girl was brought to Children’s Hospital and confirmed deceased at 8:40 a.m. Mercy South confirmed on Friday that Yaeger worked there and that her two children were among the two kids who perished in the collision.
According to the highway police, the accident occurred when Yaeger’s car veered off the left side of the exit ramp and struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked in the space created by the intersection of the two roads. The driver stopped to inspect the load, and the troopers informed First Alert 4 that the tractor-trailer was transporting lumber. Reports state that St. Mary, Missouri resident David D. Frazier, 41, who was operating the tractor-trailer, was unharmed in the collision.
