About Kate Wilkinson
She recently received my B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Journalism and Psychology from Wheaton College, MA, and she was hoping to pursue a career in digital reporting. Her background was in full-time journalism internships at WPRI in Providence, RI, where she worked as a reporter intern and accompanied reporters on high-profile stories such as the animal cruelty case in Westport, MA. Additionally, she would often work with Governor Raimondo to organize stories such as the US’s first offshore wind project.
She also worked as a producer intern in Boston, Massachusetts, at WGBH’s Morning Edition. She used their radio interviews to write articles for the web there. Along with leading articles, she was the driving force behind the first transgender swimmer to compete for the Harvard men’s team.
Kate as an Editor
As the Features Editor at Wheaton College, she arranged and conducted a 30-minute interview with the college president on the well-known refugee award. In addition, she conducted interviews with well-known Wheaton residents for a piece she wrote called Coffee With.
She has been able to learn a lot about the media industry over the last several years by covering subjects including politics, business, education, inequality, and criminality. She has written anything from a 35-page thesis to 200-word debriefs.
In Summary
Please keep Kate in your thoughts and prayers, as her family hopes and prays for the best outcome in her situation.
