Ellen M. Yarnell, 19, of Altoona, fought a short fight with mental illness before passing away quietly at home on Wednesday. The daughter of Todd J. and Rebecca L. (Langenbacher) Yarnell, she was born in Altoona.
Her parents, brother, great-grandfather Ron Wininger, great-aunts Janice Lindsey and Ronda Wininger, uncles Larry and Waylon Yarnell, aunt Michelle Langenbacher, cousins Jeff Ocker, Jamen, Kaleb, Grace, and Michele, and many others she touched with her infectious smile and kindness are all still alive. Special friends Joelle, Rachel, Victoria, Cali, Lydia, Mrs. Clever, and Mrs. Watt are also still alive.
Her great-grandmothers Betty Langenbacher and Nancy Wininger, as well as her great-grandfather Edgar Langenbacher, predeceased her. Her grandparents were Nana, Grammy, and Pappy Yarnell. Ellen was involved in band, music, and creative arts at Hollidaysburg High School, where she graduated in 2023. She competed in cross-country running as well. She was a student at the Cooks Honors College for Speech and Language Pathology at IUP right now. She was involved in Young Life and had a strong commitment to her faith. Ellen cherished spending time with her family, going on outdoor excursions, baking, and her dog, Luna.
