Early on Friday morning, a deadly multi-car collision occurred on Interstate 95 near Southwest Gatlin Boulevard, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision occurred in the southbound lanes of I-95 at around 1:45 a.m.
What happened?
According to the FHP, a 23-year-old driver from Boca Raton who was operating a Lexus was rear-ending the rear of a 17-year-old Stuart boy’s Honda Accord as he was traveling in the southbound lanes of I-95 close to Mile Marker 116. Inside the Honda was a woman from Palm City who was eighteen years old.
On the side of the road, both vehicles collided with trees. The 23-year-old male was transported to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital in Port St. Lucie by rescue personnel. Crews transported the 17-year-old kid and 18-year-old lady to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, where the 18-year-old passed away. She was identified by loved ones on social media as Kenna Wilson.
Hours of traffic were diverted during the inquiry. According to Port St. Lucie police, drivers were sent via Southwest Village Parkway, which goes south to the Southwest Becker Road I-95 entry. Since then, I-95’s southbound lanes have reopened.
