The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) is concerned that a lady may have drowned in Lake Washington, close to Pritchard Island Beach. She has apparently been missing since Monday night.
According to KOMO News, the SFD’s water rescue is now formally a recovery operation. By Tuesday evening, the waters at Pritchard Island Beach, which is situated south of Seward Park close to Rainier Valley, were being searched by harbor patrol teams using sonar and a remote underwater vehicle.
At around 10:11 p.m. on Monday, SFD personnel responded to reports of a “person in distress” in Lake Washington, according to their X post. First responders dropped a buoy to indicate the woman’s last known position.
The missing lady, 24, was on a boat with friends when she fell overboard, and others on board swiftly lost sight of her, according to SFD. The Coast Guard, SFD, and Seattle Police Department (SPD) all arrived on the site. According to KOMO News, other boaters in the area made an effort to assist with the search.
The 46-year-old man who was captaining the vessel has been charged with operating a vessel while intoxicated. They checked him into the King County Jail.
