Who is Rico Priem?
On August 4, 1957, Ricky was born in Long Island, New York, to Marilyn and Roger Priem. His wife, Sandy, his three siblings, R.J., Meg, and Karen, together with their spouses, his niece Michelle, his granddaughters, Avery and Emma, his nephew Tim and his wife, Tierra, and their grandnephew, Cal, his nephew Michael, as well as his cherished dog, Molly Mae, all survive him.
In May 1979, Ricky received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont. After that, he attended the London School of Acting to study overseas. In 1981, he moved back to New York City and settled in Manhattan. There, he worked as a bartender at the Racoon Lodge, where he formed a number of strong friendships.
After relocating to California in 1997, Ricky started working as a grip for more than 30 years as a member of IATSE, Local 80, the crew union. He rose to the position of Best Boy and was hailed as a legend in the business. He was a man of unmatched work ethic and optimism, a leader who led with compassion and deference to all. He had a genuine love for both his coworkers and his profession. Ricky was an avid traveler. On July 7, 2011, he and Sandy got married in Italy. Back in New York, they relished multiple vacations and Christmas parties. In August of this year, Ricky intended to retire. He was excited to ride his Harley, spend more time with his family, see his grandkids and grandpa grow, and maintain strong relationships with all of his great friends.

According to reports, Rico, who worked behind the scenes on the television program 9-1-1, was heading home from a 14-hour overtime job when, for an unexplained reason, his car veered off the road and over an embankment, flipping over onto its roof. Rico was pronounced dead at the spot, and the crash’s cause is being looked into.
