Michael “Mike” Guzman, who taught in Texas A&M as the director of bands, has passed away, He was said to have shot himself on Friday, May 31, 2024. Mike had committed suicide after a woman named Jackie Rodriguez came out to accuse him of sexual abuse. Jackie openly recounted her sexual abuse tale with Katherine Needleman. In her narrative, she described how her abuser, Mike, pressured her into paying out-of-state tuition at the institution he attended in order to continue abusing her.

According to Jackie Rodriguez, “I graduated from Southwest Miami High School in 2012. and from 2008–2011, my band director was Michael Guzman, who is now teaching in Texas A&M as the director of bands. He groomed and slept with me when I was underage. Our sexual relationship lasted from 15 to 18, maybe 19 years of age. Yes, I was a minor. While he was at Southwest, he groomed and slept with numerous girls in the high school band, not just me. Bad things started when I was 15 with him and ended around when I was 18.”
