The girl, 14, passed away when a tree collapsed on the automobile she was riding in. The collision happened on Reams Road south of Summerlake Boulevard at around 6:49 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, according to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol. A 2011 Lexus’ roof was struck by a tree that fell from Reams’ west shoulder. The girl was seated in the passenger seat in the back right. After being taken to Orlando Health — Horizon West Hospital, she was pronounced deceased. She was identified as Kayden Avera. She was a Windermere High School student.
The 40-year-old female driver and the 12-year-old child who was a passenger did not sustain any injuries. Reams Road was closed in both directions by the collision.
Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
